Mallory Scyphers is a content director, art director, and designer with experience at ad agencies, in-house creative departments, higher education, and non-profit institutions. She’s currently the Executive Content Director at Culture magazine, a national publication devoted to cheese and the folks who make and enjoy it, and was previously the creative director at The Improper Bostonian magazine. She lives on Mobile Bay with her husband, two young daughters, one old Shetland Sheepdog, one rambunctious golden retriever, and one calico cat.

Executive Content Director:
August 2023-Present

After nearly 5 years directing Culture’s visual brand, I’ve been upgraded to leading its voice as well. In addition to continuing my role as creative director, I:

  • Execute and oversee content strategy across all media channels:

    • Develop and assign stories to freelancers and manage those relationships (contracting assignments and maintaining the entire editorial budget)

    • Ensure all style and voice is consistent with Culture’s brand and expectations

    • Establish an editorial timeline and print schedule, as well as develop issue themes across the year

    • Edit content + provide constructive feedback to freelancers when needed

  • Establish and maintain content strategy for partnering client relationships in print, web, and social spaces:

    • Act as lead contact for sponsored content partnerships

    • Establish and maintain production budgets

    • Monitor performance expectations and assist in tracking data throughout campaigns; assist in data evaluation to craft better campaigns that drive higher performance and KPI’s

Creative Director:
Dec 2018 to August 2023

As a top leader and manager at Culture media, I conceptualize, art direct, and design all editorial content, establish and maintain Culture’s brand standards, produce holistic campaigns from conception to completion, assist in leading event production, and ideate new offerings for revenue streams:

  • Establishes and maintains a strict editorial budget

  • Manages all aspects of print, video, and digital production for Culture’s brand and partnering clients from concept to completion:

    • Concepts messaging, storyboards, and mood boards

    • Establishes a production timeline and budget

    • Assembles creative teams and talent for photo shoots using industry relationships
